Girl Typed Matted Print
11" x 14" printed artwork matted measures 16" x 20".
An unconventional self portrait, created through the imperfect letters of her typewriter. Throughout the piece, Maggie expresses a disjointed journal entry of a recurring dream, emphasizing specific words to present her face. Maggie invites the viewers to consider what makes a person their own when she claims she is “nothing other than the words I chose to exploit”. Jelley reveals how one’s stream of consciousness coupled with one’s dreamworld personality construct a highly descriptive and deeply vulnerable picture of a person’s mind and being. Maggie shows us how her love for the unfiltered mind and portrait art are able to combine to make an expressive display of who someone is in their subconscious.
