On the first visit to Cape Cod, I was struck by the resemblance to my then home away from home, Southampton, NY. The sandy soil, salty breezes, pines, scrub brush, and simply paved roads skirting cedar shake homes in seaside villages with old English names. I felt at home in a place I'd never been. 

Sandwich, Wellfleet, Orleans and P-Town. It was like putting on a new pair of shoes that felt as if you'd worn them for years. Along the interior coast, you'll find piers, wharfs, bulkheads and working marinas. Some modern. Some older than others. Sprinkled in are a peek into the past; when that, fisted arm, peninsula hosted cranberry farmers, newly arrived Portuguese immigrants, artist colonies and the seafood industry. 

The lobstermen had sheds to craft their pots, repair nets, and paint their buoys with personal colors. Often, when these were retired or found, they'd be relegated to adorn those coastal workshops. 

Some colors faded, and some still bright. Dinged, damaged, and clawed at. Each has a story and has lived to tell their tale.
